Drilling Technician (M/F)

Job Description

The Drilling Technician supports all rig floor and well operations activities as a qualified, hands-on member of the drilling crew. Working under the direction of the Toolpusher and Drilling Engineer, the Drilling Technician ensures that all drilling equipment is operated safely, maintained correctly, and that rig operations proceed in compliance with the well program and HSE standards.

Responsibilities

Rig Floor & Drilling Operations

  • Operate and maintain drilling equipment including top drive, draw works, and mud pumps.
  • Execute tripping, casing running, and cementing operations safely and efficiently.
  • Perform BHA make-up, inspection, and lay-down operations per rig procedures.
  • Complete all rig floor activities under strict well control awareness.

Equipment Maintenance & Inspection

  • Conduct daily inspection and preventive maintenance of assigned drilling equipment.
  • Document equipment status, defects, and maintenance activities in the rig maintenance log.
  • Assist with rig inspections and third-party audits as required.

HSE & Well Control

  • Participate in all rig drills including well control, fire, and abandon drills.
  • Maintain strict compliance with the rig PTW system and SIPP procedures.
  • Operate as Derrickman or Floorman as required by the drilling program.
Requirements
  • Diploma or BSc in Drilling Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field.
  • Minimum 5 years of offshore rig experience in Floorman, Derrickman, or Technician role.
  • IADC Rig Pass certification (mandatory).
  • IWCF Well Control Surface Level 3 (mandatory).
  • OPITO Derrickman/Floorman certificate preferred.
  • Physical fitness for offshore manual operations in demanding environments.
