Job Description

The Mechanical Technician specializes in the maintenance, overhaul, and troubleshooting of rotating equipment including pumps, compressors, turbines, and associated mechanical systems on the offshore installation. Working within the maintenance team and under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, this role is critical to maintaining equipment reliability and production uptime.

Responsibilities

Rotating Equipment Maintenance

  • Perform planned and corrective maintenance on centrifugal and reciprocating pumps, gas compressors, and turbines.
  • Conduct mechanical overhauls, alignment, balancing, and bearing replacements.
  • Execute pre-start-up inspections and post-maintenance function tests.
  • Complete all maintenance activities under the approved PTW system.

Troubleshooting & Diagnostics

  • Diagnose mechanical defects using vibration analysis, thermography, and visual inspection.
  • Implement corrective actions based on root cause identification.
  • Report all defects and maintenance activities accurately in the CMMS system.

HSE & Compliance

  • Perform all maintenance in ATEX/CompEx hazardous areas following offshore procedures.
  • Comply with full LOTO/LOTO (Lock Out, Tag Out) requirements for all isolation activities.
  • Participate in maintenance safety audits and preventive maintenance planning.
Requirements
  • BSc or HND in Mechanical Engineering, or relevant technical qualification.
  • Minimum 5 years of rotating equipment maintenance experience in offshore oil and gas.
  • CompEx Ex01–04 certification (mandatory for ATEX zone work).
  • OPITO CMIT (Competent Mechanical Integrity Technician) certification preferred.
  • API 610 (centrifugal pumps) and API 686 (rotating equipment installation) knowledge.
  • Proficiency in CMMS systems (SAP PM or Maximo).
