The Toolpusher/Driller holds senior drilling supervisory responsibility for all rig floor operations and is the primary interface between the drilling crew, the Drilling Engineer, and the client operator. With full well control authority and deep operational expertise, this role demands exceptional leadership, technical precision, and an absolute commitment to safe, efficient drilling operations.

Responsibilities

Drilling Supervision & Leadership

  • Direct all rig floor drilling operations from spud to total depth.
  • Supervise the entire drilling crew including Drillers, Derrickmen, and Floormen.
  • Interface directly with the Drilling Engineer and Operator Representative on well program execution.
  • Conduct daily rig crew briefings, toolbox talks, and safety meetings.

Well Control Authority

  • Exercise full well control authority and decision-making during well control events.
  • Ensure all personnel are trained and drilled in well control procedures.
  • Act as the Well Control Incident Commander in the event of a kick or blowout.

Rig Management & Reporting

  • Manage rig equipment maintenance scheduling in coordination with the Rig Superintendent.
  • Review and sign daily drilling reports before submission to the operator.
  • Manage crew competency assessments, shift handovers, and performance documentation.
Requirements
  • BSc in Petroleum or Mechanical Engineering preferred; substantial rig experience considered.
  • Minimum 10 years of offshore drilling experience with at least 5 years as Driller or Toolpusher.
  • IADC Driller Certification (mandatory).
  • IWCF Well Control Level 3 or Level 4 (mandatory).
  • OPITO Toolpusher Certificate (mandatory).
  • Proven experience supervising multicultural drilling crews in HPHT or deepwater environments.
  • Outstanding well control knowledge and emergency response decision-making skills.
