Job Description

The Distribution Chauffeur is responsible for the safe and timely delivery of goods to customers and other designated locations. This role involves loading, transporting, and unloading products, ensuring compliance with all safety and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will have a clean driving record, excellent navigation skills, and the ability to provide exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

1. Transportation and Delivery:

• Safely operate delivery vehicles to transport goods to specified destinations.
• Ensure timely and accurate delivery of products to customers and clients.
• Plan and follow the most efficient routes for deliveries.
  
  

2. Loading and Unloading:

• Load and unload goods from the delivery vehicle, ensuring items are handled with care.
• Verify the accuracy of delivery items against invoices or delivery notes.
• Use appropriate equipment such as forklifts or hand trucks when necessary.
  
  

3. Vehicle Maintenance:

• Perform regular vehicle inspections to ensure it is in good working condition.
• Report any mechanical issues or maintenance needs to the supervisor.
• Keep the delivery vehicle clean and presentable.
  
  

4. Customer Service:

• Provide excellent customer service by being courteous and professional at all times.
• Address any customer concerns or issues promptly and report them to the supervisor.
• Obtain customer signatures or proof of delivery when required.
  
  

5. Compliance and Safety:

• Adhere to all traffic laws, regulations, and company policies while driving.
• Follow safety protocols for loading, unloading, and transporting goods.
• Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery times, and any incidents.
  
  

6. Documentation:

• Complete and submit delivery documentation accurately and on time.
• Maintain records of deliveries, including delivery times, locations, and any discrepancies.
  
  

7. Coordination and Communication:

• Communicate effectively with the logistics team and dispatchers regarding delivery schedules and any delays.
• Coordinate with warehouse staff to ensure accurate and efficient order preparation.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Surinamese driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Proven experience as a delivery driver or in a similar role.
• Familiarity with local routes and navigation systems.
• Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks related to loading and unloading.
• Excellent time-management and organizational skills.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting.
