Job Description

• To operate an automobile, forklift or delivery van to transport cargo and other materials from one point to another
• To receive and or dispatch cargo to/from the Suriname Warehouse and the customer
• Provide excellent support service to customers in a courteous, prompt and efficient manner to enable customer retention and new/continued business
• To assist in packaging, crating, or Ancillary services associated with warehouse operations.

Responsibilities

BUSINESS RESULTS

· Properly pack, crate, balance and strap/secure cargo/containers/flat racks etc to avoid accidents, damage to cargo/containers and any fines/claims/losses ($) to CCA.

· Comply with safety and security procedures (as per CCA’s Health, Safety & Environmental Policy) to prevent any accidents, loss of life, loss of cargo and loss of equipment. 

· Weigh and measure cargo accurately to avoid any undue costs to customers.

· Operate forklift/Heavy T/pick-up/vehicles etc. for the movement of cargo from various locations in a safe and courteous manner to avoid accidents, loss of life and undue wear and tear/repairs.

 

CUSTOMER SERVICE

· Ensure excellent support service to customers in a courteous, prompt and efficient manner to enable customer retention and new/continued business.

INTERNAL PROCESS

Operator:

· Operate the forklift/truck/mobile equipment and tools in a safe and responsible manner.

· Assist with checking Company equipment and machinery on a regular basis i.e. oil, water, brake fluid, battery, battery water, etc so as to ensure proper functioning of vehicles and machinery.

· Liaise with and/or report any defects or malfunction of any equipment in use in the Warehouse.

· Comply with HSE regulations as required.

· Responsible for the timely packaging, collection & transportation of customers’ cargo to any destination as needed.

 

Warehouse Attendant/Loader:

· Assist with building crates, skids, kegs and any other similar packaging used for the movement of cargo as per customer request.

· Responsible for the safe and secure loading and off-loading of containers/cargo on a regular basis. 

· Assist with receiving of cargo and checking cargo prior to shipping to ensure that it is properly marked, labelled, weighed and measured. 

· Secure all Company tools and equipments when not in use.

· Maintain Company tools in a clean, operable and safe condition.

· Ensure cleanliness and orderliness of Warehouse.

· Advise of warehouse stock which needs to be replenished.

· Complete log sheets in warehouse, crating, strapping materials etc.

TEAM

· Ensure trucks/vehicles are locked and secured and the ramp door closed at the end of the day.

· Perform such other duties and responsibilities as may be required to maximize the efficiency, productivity, teamwork, customer relations and enhance the entire operations of the company.

Requirements

· Minimum of three HAVO/GCE/CXC/ O-level passes including Maths and English

· At least two (2) years experience in a similar activity

· A valid driver’s permit (Heavy Transport) with a clean driving record

· Certificate of Good Character no more than three (3) months old

Competencies

· Knowledge of identification labels in transporting fragile materials/dangerous goods 

· Capable of communicating in both Dutch and English

· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and any other related software 

· Good customer service and communication skills

· Geographical knowledge of Suriname an asset / able to use GPS/GIS
