Expatriate workforce support in Suriname

HCMS N.V. — K&K Heritage Group N.V.

Welcome to Suriname

Your complete guide to living and working in Suriname as an expatriate professional. Everything from your visa and payroll to housing, transport, and daily life — managed by HCMS and powered by the ATLAS Concierge platform.

Your Concierge Starts Now

Moving to a new country for work is complex. HCMS exists to make it simple. From the moment your assignment is confirmed, our ATLAS Concierge platform activates — managing your visa, work permit, housing, transport, banking, and settlement in one secure portal. You are not navigating Suriname alone. You have a dedicated team and an AI-powered platform behind you, 24/7.

Before You Arrive

What HCMS Manages For You

Phase 1 · Pre-Arrival

Visa, Work Permit & Documentation

HCMS handles your full immigration process: work permit application with the Ministry of Justice, visa coordination, and all documentation submission. EU nationals typically process in 3–4 weeks; non-Schengen nationals in 6–8 weeks. Your ATLAS profile is created at this stage — you will receive login credentials and a document checklist via the app.

Phase 2 · Settlement Setup

Housing, Transport & Banking

Before you land, HCMS sources and secures your accommodation in Paramaribo (or near your project site), arranges your transport (vehicle rental or driver service), and prepares your bank account opening package. All coordinated through ATLAS — you can view your housing options, approve selections, and track progress from your phone.

Phase 3 · Arrival & Meet & Greet

Airport Pickup & First-Week Support

An HCMS representative meets you at Johan Adolf Pengel International Airport, assists with your hotel or accommodation check-in, provides a local SIM card, and guides you through your first-week orientation: bank account setup, local registration, project site introduction, and any family settlement needs.

Phase 4 · Ongoing Support

Payroll, Compliance & Concierge

For the duration of your assignment: HCMS manages your monthly payroll (including all Surinamese tax and social security obligations), monitors your work permit and visa expiry dates (automated 90/60/30/14-day alerts via ATLAS), and provides ongoing concierge support for lifestyle needs, family matters, and any operational issues.

Phase 5 · Departure

Demobilisation & Final Settlement

When your assignment ends, HCMS manages your departure: final payroll settlement, lease termination, vehicle return, tax clearance, and administrative closure. ATLAS provides a departure checklist so nothing is missed. Your HCMS profile and employment history remain on file for future assignments.

Employment & Compensation

How Your Payroll Works in Suriname
Component Details
Employment Structure HCMS N.V. is your legal employer in Suriname (Employer of Record). Your employment contract complies fully with Surinamese labour law. HCMS manages all aspects of your Surinamese employment — from contract issuance to payroll processing to compliance.
Salary Payment Your salary is paid monthly into your designated bank account. HCMS ensures that all Surinamese statutory obligations — income tax, social security, and health insurance — are correctly processed and remitted. Depending on the structure of your assignment, salary payments may be arranged through multiple channels to ensure both compliance and convenience. The specifics are confirmed in your employment contract and handled with the utmost care so you can focus on your work.
Tax Withholding (LB) Surinamese income tax (Loonbelasting) is withheld from your Suriname-declared salary and remitted to the tax authority by HCMS. All tax calculations are handled by HCMS — you receive a clear payslip each month showing gross salary, deductions, and net pay.
Social Security (SOZ) Employer contributions (9% of gross) are paid by HCMS. Employee contributions are managed by HCMS as part of your payroll. HCMS actively works to optimise your employment structure within the framework of Surinamese law.
Health Insurance (BZV) HCMS contributes SRD 1,000/month toward your health coverage, providing access to Suriname's medical facilities via the BZV system. Many expatriates also maintain international health insurance through their home-country employer or agency.
Currency Local payments are made in Surinamese Dollar (SRD). If your assignment includes international payment arrangements, these will be confirmed in your employment contract and handled seamlessly by HCMS.
